Los Angeles Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Rosa Luxemburg’s Assassination: A Two-Part Workshop on Luxemburg as Marxist, as Revolutionary, and as Feminist

Sunday, January 13 and 27, 2019
6:00-8:00 PM
Public School
951 Chung King Road, Chinatown, LA 90012
(near Chinatown stop on Gold Line)

Rosa Luxemburg’s life was cut short 100 years ago by proto-fascists as she was leading a leftist revolution in Germany. Via her enduring theoretical writings and her leadership role in both the German and Polish revolutionary movements, Luxemburg was the most important woman socialist thinker to date. A theorist of imperialism and war, of women and revolution, and of spontaneity and democracy in revolution, she also criticized Lenin and Trotsky from the left for having established a single-party state after the Russian Revolution of 1917. This series will touch upon the major strands in Luxemburg’s writings in a participatory, 21st century way, linking them to the issues of our times.
